This is what happens when we're left home alone...

These pics are from one night last week when Dad took Mom out to eat. Us girls decided to treat ourselves to tacos from Taco Bell and subs from Jersey Mike's. As you can see from the pics, it got kinda crazy...it turned into a taco-sauce-throwing-party!!! (Believe me, my sisters are gonna be mad when they see that I posted these!)
Let me reassure you (especially those whose kids I baby-sit occasionally) that this does not occur while I'm watching other people's kids! Honest!

Oops....I almost accidently fell in!!!

Here's some pics from last week that I've been meaning to post, but just haven't gotten a chance. We sang and played at a fancy independent living home in Nashville, and afterwards we went out and looked at this fountain (which is in the middle of the parking lot.) As you can tell in the second and third pictures, somebody was wanting to "fall in on accident!" (How do I know? Cause she's tried that before! LOL!)

Chocolate Chip Cookies, Anybody?

According to my sisters, I'm not the best cook in the world! It seems like every time I try out some "neat" recipe, and it always turns out to be a BIG mess and is not edible! (Just ask them about the fried pies or funnel cakes!) Last time I attempted a new recipe, one of my sisters advised me to just stick with some tried and true recipe, like chocolate chip cookies! Since my reputation as a cook is at stake, I guess I'll be following that advice for a while!

Comments, Please!

Is anyone out there even reading my blog??? I know there's got to be someone, besides my sisters, who's reading this!
(Please, oh, please don't tell me I'm wasting my time! lol!)
Seriously, though, I hope everyone knows that you don't have to have a Blogger account to post a comment. Just choose the "Anonymous" option, but please be sure to include your name at the end of your post! Hope to hear from y'all soon!

The Tale of a Grill That Was Nearly Lost

It was 2:30 a.m. I was sleeping peacefully in my bed when I was suddenly awakened by the sound of strong winds whipping around our house. Three seconds later, the sound of something scuttling across our front porch caused me to grab my glasses and peer out the window. Alas, it was the grill - the beautiful, big, expensive grill that us girls purchased last year for our parents for their anniversary! Caught on the porch swing, it rocked as the wind threatened to push it off to the ground below. Fear gripped my heart as I rushed from my room to the front door, where I found my Dad endeavoring to remove various toys which had been piled in front of the door. Grabbing my brother's basketball hoop, I cast it aside and we finally managed to get the door open. Running across the wet, wind-swept porch, Dad grabbed the grill and we pulled it back over to the front door. By this time, the wind was getting more severe, so we were obliged to hold onto the grill from the front door while the storm continued to rage. Very soon, I was sent in search of a rope, but being unable to find one at this early hour of the morning, we had to settle for a towel. Looping this around the handle of the grill enabled us to shut the door a little, which kept everything from getting wetter than it already was. Standing at the door holding the ends of a towel that was holding onto the grill, I realized that Dad and I were not the only ones loosing sleep at this early hour of the morning. Actually, everyone was awake except Mom, my little brother, and one of my sisters who is a particularly sound sleeper. After several minutes, the storm subsided enough for myself and one of my sisters to venture out on the porch and secure the grill by placing concrete blocks on each side. (Actually, these were not just ordinary concrete blocks, but curved concrete flower bed strips, which we have in abundance due to the fact that they were on sale for $2 last fall and this great deal could not be passed up! But since then, they have been residing on our front porch!) After all the excitement, we were ready to go back to our nice, cozy beds. And friends, as a final word of advice - if the wind starts to blow at your place, be sure to secure your grill beforehand!

(Alright, y'all don't laugh at me! I'm just trying to come up with something funny for my blog! LOL!)

A weekend visit

This past Thursday, our grandparents (Dad's parents) came up for a short visit. We had a great time with them! For once, we were hoping that it wouldn't snow, because the first few flakes would have sent them back to the sunny state of Florida. (Although, in my opinion, I think that hurricanes are worse than snow.)
Actually, there were a few flurries on Friday morning, but nothing stuck, and Saturday turned out to be a very nice sunny, warm day. Here's a few pics I took while they were here.

Is he cute or what?

I caught her during one of her rare moments of practicing! If she would practice a little more often, she might be an ok guitar picker! LOL!
